Pillars to Wellness: Night night, sleep tight!


At Organic Pilates we believe that the key to wellness is finding the balance in Rest, Hydration, Movement + Nutrition, and that each of these pillars play a key role to your overall Wellbeing.


Over the next 2 weeks I’d love to share with you our knowledge on each of these pillars to Wellness as well as some functional and practical tips you can implement in your everyday life, cause who doesn’t want to feel their best?! Let’s start with REST! Sleep is an essential part of our daily life. It is a biological need that has far-reaching effects on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Here our top 5 reasons why sleep is important…

  1. Restores the Body: Rest + restore time where you body repairs damaged cells, tissues, and muscles. It’s also critical in maintaining a healthy immune system and regulating hormones.

  2. Enhances Cognitive Function: Think memory, learning and problem solving, plus it improves concentration, creativity and productivity!

  3. Promotes Emotional Stability: Regulates your moods + emotions and reduces stress by lowering your stress hormones.

  4. Lowers Risk of Chronic Diseases: The research shows us that individuals who get enough sleep have a lower risk of developing chronic conditions such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, and type 2 diabetes. Sleep also helps to regulate blood pressure and prevent inflammation.

  5. Improves Quality of Life: Physically and mentally we are happier when we are well rested. And this rest helps us to feel more energised, productive and alert.

  2. Environment: Create a calm and peaceful space for sleep to take over

  3. Turn off stimuli: Yep that’s alcohol, caffeine, large meals and screen time

  4. Relax: Read, breathe, meditate or do what helps you to relax
